Set in the heart of beautiful Lulworth Cove on the Dorset coast, my small women’s art retreat offers a few days of creative inspiration, coastal experiences and time to simply slow down, staying in beautiful boutique accommodation with sea views, just a stone’s throw from Lulworth Cove.

Whether it’s the golden light of late summer or the fresh beginnings of early spring, each season brings its own colours, atmosphere and inspiration to this beautiful stretch of coastline.

I’ve been lucky enough to call Lulworth home for over 10 years, and I’m so excited to share some of my favourite hidden gems, secluded spots and quieter corners with you. I'm an artist and art teacher, and a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art. My own semi-abstract artwork is inspired by the surrounding coast, and I love encouraging others to experiment, explore and find their own creative style.

During the retreat, I’ll share both my creative approach and the place I call home, bringing together experimental art workshops, coastal walks, beach saunas and sea swims, and guided meditation, alongside delicious local food, inspiring conversation and plenty of fun.

It’s a chance to step away from everyday life, stay somewhere truly special and experience Lulworth a little differently — with time for creativity, nature, rest and good company.

Our art workshops will be experimental, expressive and playful, exploring acrylics, watercolour and mixed-media techniques to capture the colours, light, textures and feeling of the beautiful Lulworth coastline. We’ll paint outdoors in the Lulworth landscape, taking inspiration from its stunning coastal scenery and some of my favourite peaceful spots tucked away along the coast, as well as enjoying creative time in my home studio.

We’ll also explore fused glass and seaweed cyanotype printing, creating unique coastal-inspired artwork. Whether you’re a complete beginner, looking to rediscover your creativity or an experienced artist wanting fresh inspiration, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to try new things, develop your own style and simply enjoy the creative process.

All materials are included, and no previous art experience is needed — just a willingness to have a go and enjoy yourself!

Alongside the art, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the coast and slow down, with a beach sauna with sea swims, a morning coastal walk to Durdle Door, gentle morning movement, guided meditations and stargazing.

We’ll be exploring some of the coastline on foot, including some of the area’s beautiful viewpoints and quieter corners. Parts of the coastal paths are hilly and uneven, so you’ll need to be comfortable walking on varied terrain and have a reasonable level of fitness to enjoy these parts of the retreat.

There’s no pressure to join every activity. The retreat is designed to give you a lovely balance of creative time, coastal inspiration, rest and space to simply be.

A little extra for our September retreat! If you fancy getting out on the water and seeing Lulworth Cove from a different perspective, we can help arrange a boat trip or paddleboarding. These are optional extras, with costs paid directly to the local providers.

The retreat brings together two beautiful accommodation options in the heart of Lulworth Cove — No. 8 Coastguards Cottage and The Lodge – Lulworth, just a short stroll around the village duck pond from one another. Guests can choose to stay in a stylish sea view room at the cottage or in a boutique en-suite hotel room at The Lodge, both just moments from the Cove.

No. 8 Coastguards Cottage offers stylish coastal charm, with wall-to-wall windows overlooking the Cove and a large private garden. The cottage will be the heart of our retreat, with lovely shared spaces for gathering, getting creative, relaxing and spending time together. Accommodation includes a choice of bedrooms with sea or countryside views, with shared bathroom facilities.

The Lodge – Lulworth offers guests a lovely choice of stylish boutique hotel rooms, all with private en-suite bathrooms. Each room has its own individual character, offering a comfortable and welcoming space to relax and unwind after a day of creativity and exploring the beautiful Lulworth coastline.

We'll all come together at The Lodge for delicious brunches and relaxed evening meals, with the option to dine on the beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the sea. The kitchen celebrates local seafood, the day's catch, seasonal produce and Dorset ingredients, with delicious vegetarian and vegan options available too.

• Experimental painting workshops with creative guidance, exploring watercolour and acrylics as we paint out in the Lulworth landscape — from its iconic coastal landmarks and beautiful views to hidden corners and peaceful, quieter spots — with some creative time in my home studio too

• A creative fused glass session, creating your own coastal-inspired piece

• Seaweed cyanotype printing, collect seaweed to create beautiful botanical-style coastal prints

• All art materials, including your own Lulworth Cove Art Retreat sketchbook, cradled painting board and bespoke multi-aperture mount for your watercolour ‘glimpses’.

• Three delicious brunches and three two-course evening meals at The Lodge – Lulworth, featuring local seasonal produce, with fish, seafood, vegetarian and vegan options. Additional early morning refreshments and afternoon seaside treats (yes ice cream and cream teas!)

• A private beach sauna experience with sea dips

• Guided sunset / stargazing meditation by the sea

• Morning sea swims together in Lulworth Cove or guided mindful movement

• A sunrise coastal walk to Durdle Door, led by me and taking in some of my favourite viewpoints and quieter corners along the way
